Hunting

Moffat County is home to two of the largest migratory elk herds in North America, as well as a hunting hot spot for deer, antelope and small game.

Each year Colorado sees more than 375,000 deer, elk and pronghorn hunters.Going into the fall 2010 hunt, biologists put Colorado’s elk population at 280,000-plus. The state’s deer herds are estimated at more than 466,000 and have generally been regarded as being “back” for the last several years. In fact, deer herds may be even better than they were back in the day.

Find out more about the elk, deer and pronghorn outlook in the full article (pdf), written by Dale Lashnits and published in the "Colorado Outdoors" magazine's 2010 Hunting Guide.

"Thank you so much for everything. This was our fourth visit to Moffat County and my son's first visit. We got three elk and just wanted to say thanks  for all you do."
